Kim and Aggie on ';How Clean is Your House?'; use this all the time. They're British; I'm Canadian. I have never heard of this term/product before. This question was asked by someone else on Y!answers but the responses were ambiguous...one respondent said it's T.S.P. (which I have heard of); another said they're using environmentally-friendly (i.e. ';biological';) laundry detergent that can be found (in Canada/U.S.) at an organic grocery store.
Please clarify--informed reponses only! Thanks!What is biological washing powder?
I found this link where they talk about the difference between bio and non-bio washing power:

Since they all talk about clothes washing, I assume when the Brits say biological washing power it is the same as what we in the US call laundry detergent(Tide, Cheer, etc)What is biological washing powder?
It is BIZ, a laundry additive that contains enzymes to remove grease and stains.
';.....It is an enzyme-based bleach that breaks down proteins in a way that ordinary chemical bleach and detergent do not...

washing powder = laundry detergent
biological = enzymes
I'm going to try this! Report Abuse
In Uk the washing powder is usually clearly labelled, biological, or non-biological. Biological powders have added enzymes that help the cleaning process (at lower temperatures). See link below for a brief explanation.
