the protein powder is nothing more than processed protein, it is safe to take at any age. the only health concern would be if you were lactose intolerant, however, i feel that whey protein is a waste for a 12 year old. his body is not going to build and develope muscle the way an adult would, weight training and a healthy diet are good practices for your son but the reason for taking a protein supplement are to help in muscle recovery and growth. your son will not be capable of great gains in muscle and growth yet anyhow because of hormone levels. the best thing is to teach him healthy eating habits, support him in working out and staying fit. if he is to eat some sort of lean protein such as chicken breast, turkey, tuna fish, etc 3 times a day along with skim milk at his 3 main meals, he will be taking in more protein than he will need. there is just no reason to take protein supplements at his age yet.Can 12 year olds take whey protein powder?
NO, their bodies arent mature besides whith whey protein is meant to be taken after hard working workout with weights, which is not what the typical 12 year does. hes only going to get fat
For a 12 year old, i'd recommend he just eat normally, 12 is too young for getting too serious about working out. Just try to have him eat every 2 hours a small meal, and it should be efficient enough.
its just protien it wont hurt him at all! its no more harmful than a pice of fish or chicken. i would give hi Met RX its a protie drink very low in cal and sugar so that he wont gain fat. good luck and if you are very worried talk to his Dr. %26gt;^_^%26lt;
should be fine...I've been taking it since I was 13 and I'm 15 now. Anyhow its just protein right? ....then again I went started to go though puberty at about 9 1/2.
