Does anyone one perhaps know what acid in a white, clumpy, powder that dissololves in water smells strong is?

i am doing a lab to find out the molar mass of an acid and these are the characteristics of the acid. i found that perhaps it has a molar mass of aproximately 57g/mol... and ideas? please and thanksDoes anyone one perhaps know what acid in a white, clumpy, powder that dissololves in water smells strong is?

Glenn... the asker said it was a powder .. Hcl is a gas. We need to know what the ';strong'; smell is like.
