Glenn... the asker said it was a powder .. Hcl is a gas. We need to know what the ';strong'; smell is like.

How many tsp. of chopped garlic equals 3 tbsp of garlic powder?

Who cares?? I love garlic, so add to my heart's content!!How many tsp. of chopped garlic equals 3 tbsp of garlic powder?
Put it this way:

1/4 teaspoon of powdered garlic = one clove of garlic. There are roughly 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon. So if 1 teaspoon of powder = 4 cloves of garlic, then 1 tablespoon powder = 12 cloves of garlic.

3 tablespoons of garlic powder would then = 36 cloves of garlic, roughly 3-4 bulbs. Or, if you're using pre-minced garlic, 36 teaspoons. About 3/4 cup.

At least you won't get bitten by mosquitoes! ^_^How many tsp. of chopped garlic equals 3 tbsp of garlic powder?
normally less than half of dried herbs equals raw herbs.

6 tbsp or little bit more of chopped garlics equals 3 tbsp of garlic powder.
1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder equals 1 clove garlic
3 tsps. equals 1 tbls.

Where can I get rennet tablets, calcium chloride, and lypaze powder In Gwalior?

I wish to make mozzarella cheese at home all by myself, for this I need rennet tabs calcium chloride, citric acid and lypase power. The problem is..... I just donno in which kinna store I can buy all these ingredients :(. Where can I get rennet tablets, calcium chloride, and lypaze powder In Gwalior?
You could ask your local health food store. I'd stick to something easy like homemade Yogart first.

BTW; make sure the rennet isn't animal based. Where can I get rennet tablets, calcium chloride, and lypaze powder In Gwalior?
You're going to have a problem making mozzarella. It's made with whey, that's the ';water'; left from making ricotta. In place of rennet tabs/liquid which is hard to get and expensive you can use vinegar to make the ricotta. Google Cheesemaking and you'll find so much info it will boggle your mind. Have fun. BTW, find a wholesaler and buy what's called a ';Curd';. You cut the curd in 1 lb pieces. Put it in very hot water and with your hands, knead the curd until you feel it's tender and smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate. A lot easier than doing it from scratch, and it's foolproof so you don't waste money. The hotter the water, the quicker the curd will become smooth, soft and elastic. Good luck.

Has anyone ever heard of putting liquid bleach in their swimming pool as opposed to chlorine tabs or powder?

My neighbor does this and I was just wondering how safe it was/potency?Has anyone ever heard of putting liquid bleach in their swimming pool as opposed to chlorine tabs or powder?
I sold a lot of liquid chlorine (highly concentrated bleach) when I worked at a pool store. It's actually a better way to add the chemical, because you don't have everything concentrated in your skimmer basket.Has anyone ever heard of putting liquid bleach in their swimming pool as opposed to chlorine tabs or powder?
Yes I did that, but I would have to use about 5 times as much household bleach as pool chlorine.
In recent years, concern regarding the safety hazards associated with liquid chlorine has grown to such an extent that several major cities now restrict transportation of chlorine within their boundaries. Tablets, ( KINTABS) on the other hand are easy and convenient to store and transport. One pallet containing 600 jars each of 200 tablets is equivalent to 120,000 x 1 litre in use bleach solutions of 1,000 PPM active chlorine concentration.

Liquid chlorine is bulky, heavy and prone to leakage and spillage. Chlorine tablets are compact, economical and safe to ship and can even be sent by airfreight.
It gives it a good shock especially if algae has started to grow. It's not unusual for people to do this to chlorine pools, can't do it to salt pools.
Pool supply places have liquid chlorine. It's very common to use it.

What's the best one for a 14 year old? What protein supplement, shake, powder, mix. do you recommend?
I love Muscle Milk and Whey Protein.

Either Muscle milk or Cytogainer, its a straight protien blend (different kinds mixed together) with glutamine and such, just make sure you work out while taking it...

PS diet is everything in changing your body, you cant put bad gas in a car and expect it to go faster, same goes with your body
no supplement should be available for 14 year old. if u re having problems with your weight u consult a school doctor

It's an excellent mass building protein shake. The only thing I would suggest is not to take the entire suggested serving on the label - it says 5 scoops I think, for a total of 60g of protein. I usually do 3 scoops...that's still 36g, more than enough for one serving, and it lasts longer.

Mix it ONLY with water, and drink IMMEDIATELY after your workout. It's a mass builder, so it replaces your post-workout meal.

And be careful about what other people on here suggest for you - most of them don't know what they're talking about, or only know about the mainstream, garbage supplements.

It is not the same as the one you currently have. The setting powder is really what the dermablend is all about. The setting powder not only sets the the foundation, but also keeps it to last up to 12 hours. Also it keeps it from getting all over your clothing. • What is the best powder foundation? Chanel/Dior/mineral makeup?

I've got really sensitive acne prone skin that's both dry and oily (and pores too!) Can anyone recommend some powder or mineral foundations? I heard Chanel does good foundations, but does it contain talc? is it true that talc can cause clogged pores? please help! What is the best powder foundation? Chanel/Dior/mineral makeup?
For your skin type I would recommend Estee Lauder Doublewear - it's fabulous. What is the best powder foundation? Chanel/Dior/mineral makeup?
mineral makeup is the best - i have tried loads of different foundations, and found a website that you can order samples of the colours for 99p before you buy them. The foundation works really well for coverage, and i can wear it everyday withoout getting clogged pores - as it has zinc which heals the skin while you wear it. A long tie ago it was the recommended foundation on a program link - detox me - order from lilylolo
Chanel is great! All of their makeup is. But another great type of makeup is this foundation by Thierry Mugler, it's all natural, and it's 50% water and 50% minerals, so it helps your skin and it gives great coverage.

I use MAC's Mineralize Satinfinish SPF15 foundation. It's made of mostly minerals, and contains no oil. The powder that goes with it is Mineralize Satinfinish/Natural, it gives great coverage, it's natural, and it's good for sensitive skin.
Due to the fact that you have dry skin, stay away from powders. They can make your face look dryer and cakey. Try something like Clinique Almost Make-up. It is a thick liquid foundation that is light and can be built up to a more heavy foundation. Clinique is allergy tested and will not break out skin. Most foundations contain talc which many people with sensitive skin have a reaction to. Although many people swear by MAC cosmetics, their foundations always break my skin out - and they aren't worth the price (in my opinion.) When you buy Chanel and Dior, you are paying for the name - and not the product. Bare Minerals is a very nice mineral make-up and it will not clog your pores, but because it is a powder...it may make your dry skin look patchy and flakey. If you go to Sephora, ask for some samples - they will most likely be able to give you some Bare Minerals to try out.
Chanel or Dior foundations are RUBBISH. I bought a DIOR foundation hoping it'd be brilliant, but it was awful! Don't recommend it at all!

Foundation will give you more acne, so i suggest just using facial products. Get a

    Neutrogena scrub

i have very sensitive oily skin too- ive tried alot- mineral foundation is actually supposedly rele bad for sensitive skin, because the natural ingredients can irritate our sensitive skin- the only mineral makeup that rele works for my skin is pur minerals 4-in-1 pressed mineral foundation- i get many compliments on how flawless, smooth and even my skin looks everyday-its long lasting too and it handles my oily t zone- my skin hasn't broken out from this makeup too- another brand i rele recommend is clinique-anything from them seriously-their products are great for sensitive skin- maybe their clarifying powder makeup will be good for you and your oily acne prone skin- but it may be over drying-or their almost powder makeup spf- but it may give your skin a dewy effect- seriously jut try pur minerals- it has amazing coverage- its the best powder ie ever tried in my entire life and trust me ive tried alot;p it has spf 15, its 4 in 1 b.c its your foundation, concealer, and finishing powder + spf in one! i still wear concealer tho b4 i apply it, and primer- but alot of ppl have asked me what or if ive been using anything on my skin- u have to try it!!! or at least look into it-if so email me and tell me how it is, id like to kno how its works for you lol

    hope this helps=)
sorry but i dont like dior or chanel .. people mostly just buy their makeup products because of the name but the actual product isn't that good and people won't even know what brand its from bcus its not like your guna have dior written on your face so out of your options i would choose mineral .. but you should try brands like estee lauder, sisley,l'oreal etc... =] sorry that probs wasnt the answer you were looking for but just my opinion .. hope it helped =]
liquid isnt good for acne prone skin so its good that u are looking for a poqder....i would suggest Bare Minerals....its really good and goes on so lite like a veil and doesnt cause u to break out at all!! it looks really natural but flawless, too....Clarinsis also good....they both use natural products and both r DEFINITELY worth the price!! u dont wanna mess around with cheap brands especially with foundation...they will just clog your pores even more.....good luck!!
    Mineralogie.

It's really good, I've been using it for 3 months now and i'ts so much better for your skin than any other normal brand. Try out different mineral makeups or go into a department store and see what they suggest would be good for your skin type.
i have your skin type too

i love Bare Escentuals mineral foundation, it's $60 at Sephora for the starter kit

but Urban Decay Surreal Skin mineral foundation is really good too, %26amp; it's about $30 at Sephora

i'm sure non of these contain talc
i love mineral makeup, specifically bare minerals. i've been using it for years. i had to use liquid foundation once and really felt how heavy it was on my face. the mineral makeup is light weight and has good coverage.
i use Dinair Airbrush Makeup and its amazing!! it makes my skin look flawless and natural at the same time..its really cool. Its all water based so its not bad for your skin. you can look at all their pics and stuff if u just google Dinair...hope i helped.
I would suggest Cover fx mineral foundations. they are gr8, cover up better than any liquid. I have found for the most part chanel and dior foundations do not have good color ranges and the product itself sux.
philosophy has good foundations easy to put on and the brand is also a sin cleaner brand so it should be good for your acne and not irritate it.

    hope i helped

How do I efficiently destroy a kilo of ';mystery'; organic powder?

I will assume this is a serious question and will answer in three parts. First part, I will assume you are in industry or in academia and you have the resources to get this done. The second part I will answer the question as if you were a layperson who just wants a clue to a common household chemical that what you have on hand. The third part I will answer first. If you think it is an illegal contraband, inform the police and let them handle it. If you can't, flush it down the toilet. Now for the other two cases.

Since you stated that it is “organic”, I surmise that this is a school assignment since not many of us can determine by sight whether a substance is organic or not.

If you know it is organic for a fact, you can test the melting point of the solid by placing a small amount in a glass capillary and you gradually raise the temperature, possibly in a mineral oil heated bath. Assuming it is pure and not a mixture, it will give you the melting point of the substance. If it is a mixture, you may see a more gradual phase change where one phase melts and then the other. Or the second phase is then dissolved by the first.

To be certain that it is not a complex mixture, you can attempt to separate it by dissolving it in an organic solvent and separate it by liquid chromatography, preferably by HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatograph).

Once the species have been separated or verified to be only one component, you can use FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) to determine the compound. This procedure will give you the ';signature'; of the molecule. You can then search a library of hundreds of thousands organic compounds to look for a match. Another tool is NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy).

If it is a polymer and you need to know the molecular number or weight, you may need to do mass spectroscopy.

Now, if you are a layperson, the best you can do is guess. Here is my simple suggestion (which is by no means fool proof).

    (1) Using a small sample, see whether it is soluble in water -- how it interacts with water. Does it dissolve? Does it form a colloid or emulsion? Does it resemble any common household substance when mixed with water, such as flour or sugar or creamer? If cold water does work, how about hot water? (Creamer will dissolve much faster in hot but in cold, you can see that it “bleeds” somewhat. This would be a sign that it is a complex semi-soluble or partially “fatty” and partially “polar” compound.

    (2) Test the pH of the water/powder mixture. You can get some from a pet store for aquariums or for swimming pool supply store. This would let you know whether there are acid groups (such as carboxyls such as acetic acid or citric acid) or basic groups (such as amines and amides).

    (3) Look under a magnifying glass or microscope the crystal structure of the compound. Compare it to common household products.

    (4) This would be dangerous if you were not almost certain it was not a poison – taste and smell – spit it out afterwards and wash your mouth completely if you suspect it to be unfamiliar. How do I efficiently destroy a kilo of ';mystery'; organic powder?
    poor water on it.

    burn it or snort it
    flush it
Use thermite (a mix of iron oxide and alluminum.) It burns at 2500 degrees Farenheit, that should be enough to destroy anything.

What's the differnce between biological and non-biological washing powder? And what does it mean?

All washing powders contain surface active materials (detergents) which help to ';lift'; dirt and stains from fabrics and to then hold it in solution/suspension. Biological powders have enzymes added and these help to break down organic materials such as food or perspiration stains into a more water soluble form.

Can i substitute baking powder for baking soda? and can i substitute butter for shortening?

You can use 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar for each teaspoon of baking powder but you can't substitute baking powder for baking soda.

You can substitute butter for shortening in a number of recipes (in cookies, butter usually results in a crisper cookie). Can i substitute baking powder for baking soda? and can i substitute butter for shortening?
NO you CAN NOT subsitute baking powder for baking soda

YES you CAN subsitute butter for shortening!!

No you CAN NOT subsitute powdered sugar for regular sugar!!Can i substitute baking powder for baking soda? and can i substitute butter for shortening?
NO AND NO%26lt;,,, baking powder makes stuff RISE,, baking soda gives it stability,

butter is butter,, shortening is fat creating flaky crusts,,

and no on the sugar,, for frosting add more confection sugar you should be fine
No, no and no - at least not if you want whatever you are baking to turn out correctly.

Actually you can sometimes sub butter for shortening but it does change texture and can change baking times etc.

The sugar glaze with powdered sugar would also be very different and more opaque rather than transparant.

Baking powder and baking soda are quite different.
Absolutely NOT, for the baking soda/powder.

    Yes for the butter/shortening.

And for the glaze, most glazes DO use powdered sugar.
    No on the baking powder

butter for shortening most times,It will always work, but some recipes don't want the butter flavor, for example my favorite sour cream cookie recipe.

Yes for a glaze, I always use powdered sugar.
butter for shortning, powdered sugar for granular, yes. baking powder for soda, no. sometimes the other ingredients in the recipe affect the powder/soda, like buttermilk or vinegar.
    NO for the baking soda

Yes for the Shortnening, however cooking oil would work better
substitutions: regular sugar for powdered sugar - no. However, you can make your own powdered sugar by blending (in a blender) regular sugar and corn starch - 1 cup reg. sugar and 1 rounded tablespoon of cornstarch.

Baking powder and baking soda are two different chemicals and cannot be substituted, one for the other. Baking powder can be made with 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar powder, 1 tablespoon baking soda, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch.

Yes, butter can be substituted for shortening in some recipes, not for everything.

Will using whey protein powder get me better results than just eating protein packed foods ?

because i do not want to buy protein powder (its expensive) if i can just eat protein packed foodWill using whey protein powder get me better results than just eating protein packed foods ?
You see protein powder is an artificial protein provider. It has some of the amino acids that are needed for the body but not all. Eating protein packed foods in their right proportion will help you to get results instead of spending so much money on those powders.

Growth takes time, and people who want growth instantly fail to accept that. How do you think these companies who make these protein powders make so much money per year? Because people want results at the snap of a finger.

If you can accept that growth takes time, then you can take my advice. If you can't t,hen you can squander your hard earned money on the powders.

The choice is up to you.

Which one will you choose? Will using whey protein powder get me better results than just eating protein packed foods ?
whey protien is better post workout than protein packed foods as it is absorbed into the body much quicker, and this is when protein is needed the most

other than that the majority of your protein wants to come from foods rather than whey

you say whey is expensive, but it depends on the brand,

    http://www.myprotein.co.uk/bulk-powders/鈥?/a>

this is what i use its 拢10.49 per kg, and 1kg will last me about 3.5 weeks (i take 25g whey at breakfast and 40g post workout), this works out to about 45p per day

also you can get a bulk discount on this product, and if you use this referral code you can get a 5% discount off your first order - MP40665

so it may be worth considering getting the powder to suppliment you diet, but like ive already said away from your workout the majority of your protein should come from quality foods
Ultimately, you process more of the whey protien isolate. Its concentrated and regular food though great, you lose alot of the protien during the digestion process. Considering the ration of protien to body weight ration you need to eat to build solid muscle, buying protien in bulk is way cheaper than eating all that food. Trust me.

    Ratio

1.2 grams of protien per pound of body weight per day.
HA HA HA HA HA!. You have make my case AKA. POINT so

easy, so damn easy. The word that you used that make my case. The word is FAST. The reason why it works fast is because of what they feed or BOOSTED the Chickens, and the

Meat with I mean in there food and there water to let those

birds %26amp; Annimals look 3 times larger than they should so that

they can sell them to you and make huge profits and you get

may be a huge FUNERAL and I say MAY BE. because you may not have enough money left after you dead!!!. Do you see how most people today Men and Women look like they are pregnant???. It's because of those Chickens, and meat you are all eating today!!!. Dont get me wrong Chickens and meat is very good but it's what thiy fed them on that's the trouble / problems today, so dont beleive you are doing your self any good because you are not @ all. You cant get your protines out of a box or a tin neighter, you have to get it the old faciton way, with some good oltime food. Tho some of the food today are boosted with furtilizer as well so you just have to know what you are eating and stop killing your self!!.
i usually get my protein by eating alot of fish and salmon and occasionally some protein drinks. I feel after you come out of a good workout the protein will help those muscles faster than eating the protein. So yea im pretty sure that the protein powder is your best bet while eating your poultry as well
It's not a case of having one or the other. If you want to achieve good results from your workout you will need to have both. Protein powder is a supplement and not too expensive if you buy a whole month supply.
no, your body can only absorb a certain amount of protein a day and there is enough of that in chicken etc, so its a waste of money to by protein supplements.

    hope this helps.

Whey is a good source of fast acting proteins when you need them. Nothing beats nutrient packed foods.Oh! Leave it to the geniuses on the board to give advice. I dont know anything :)

any mineral makeup u get from walmart or the like isnt going to be ';true'; mineral makeup. if you look at the ingrediants you will see theres still a whole crap load of artifical ingrediants, with a touch of mica or titaium dioxide. i love mineral makeup, and was recently on a hunt for the best/cheapest out there. by far the best i have found is on www.everydayminerals.com. they are cheap and have all natural ingredients. covers great and has many colors to choose from. also a great thing about them is you can get FREE samples- just pay $3 for shipping. i got 3 different color foundations, blush, and a concealer and they actually hook it up with the amounts. like i bet the foundations will last me at least a month.

    HI!

Is Tumeric Powder different than Cumin Powder?

Both are spices ,extensively used in cusine of many countries %26amp; a common ingredient in spice mixtures, both are powdered before use in cooking, cumin is sometimes used whole for seasoning .The similarity ends there, cumin seed is handpicked %26amp; dried before use, it grows on a delicate plant, similar to fennel.Tumeric on the other hand is a dried rhizome, the plant bears a similarity to ginger.Tumeric rhizome is boiled to intensify the yellow colour ,then it is dried.%26amp; powdered, both spices have medicinal uses too.Is Tumeric Powder different than Cumin Powder?
Tumeric powder doesn't exist. But turmeric and cumin are very different.

Turmeric is a dried and ground root, while cumin is a dried and ground seed, form an entirely different plant.

Turmeric is sometimes referred to as the poor man's saffron, in reference to it's colour.

Cumin provides the slightly smoky flavour and aroma of Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes, and is also regularly used in cooking beans in just about all cuisines.

Both are a part of curry powder. Is Tumeric Powder different than Cumin Powder?
2 DIFFRENET SPICES,TUMERIC IS TO GIVE COLOR TO FOOD, WHILE CUMIN IS A WOODYS KIND OF SPICE,,NAMASTE
DUHHHHHH they are totally different things
It sure is! Turmeric powder is a deep yellow and is used often in Indian cooking. Yum! It is supposed to be good for the stomach and also for bringing inflammation down in the body. It will stain if you get some on your fingers when cooking with it and will turn white rice a shade of yellow.

Cumin powder is used often in Mexican cooking. Yum!

both have distinct flavors and both are great spices, IMO!
Totally different. Tumeric is used mostly in middle eastern foods and has a real bitter flavor if overused. Great if you need to color something yellow. Cumin is used primarily in Mexican/So west cooking. Has a almost pine flavor and best if slightly roasted before using.
    It is completely different.

Wow. Cumin is a heavy smelling seed, and used in Indian and Mexican cooking.

Tumeric is bright yellow, and adds a kind of light, bitter coconut flavor to food. It is most used to color food, especially yellow mustard. Tumeric is hardly ever used by itself as the only ingredient in a dish.

Nothing alike....smell each one. You will know.
YES! Turmeric is a component of curry powder, and also called ';poor man's saffron'; because it has a mild flavor and imparts beautiful yellow gold color to foods like saffron.

Cumin is what makes chili taste like chili. It is smoky and earthy in flavor.
    The names say it all.

Turmeric comes from the turmeric root, a rhizome, ie. very similar shape and same family as the ginger root. Subtle taste, gives the yellow color to curries - DOES exist in powdered form!

Cumin powder comes from the cumin seed. This is also used in Middle Eastern cooking, and is often a component in curries as well.
Turmeric powder and cumin powder are totally different. Turmeric is used as an antiseptic agent in food and coloring agent in food ,Cumin powder is used as an flavoring agent and used for inducing digestion, controls body heat.
tumeric used in mostly East Indian, Middle Eastern dishes..

Cumin used in Mexican, South American dishes..

tumeric is yellow and turns what it's in yellow...

Cumin is green....(doesn't turn anything any color.)

What a good pressed powder that gives good coverage?

and not cheap..please no drugstore brands or m.a.cWhat a good pressed powder that gives good coverage?
ive tried 2 really good formulas - Clinique Perfectly Real compact makeup, and sephora brand powder makeup.

it gives excellent coverage like it says you can build up layers so you can have a light or full coverage..i've tried it, it really does work well. the sephora brand is also really good, has 10 spf, comes in more colours and gives you full coverage like you're asking for. but it's not as buildable as the clinique kind, so if you put on too much it can start to look a little fake. i found the sephora brand to last a little longer than clinique, though.

if you're open to trying it, go for a loose/mineral powder makeup, im using bare escentuals right now and it's the best foundation ive ever used. it's really versatile - you can use the foundation to cover spots and scars with a concealer brush (comes with starter kit), but then use the same formula for your foundation as well. the starter kit comes with an amazing, natural-looking bronzer and a sealing powder that gives you a nice glow and seals on the foundation. you can also use the bronzer to give glow to your lips, and ive used the powder sealant as an eye primer that works really well.

this is all just my experience, i hope it helped. id suggest trying and experimenting, go to a sephora if you can? it's really a lot better to do that bc you'll find out which one is best for you. and if you go to sephora they can give you free consultations about what's best for your skin, and they do free makeovers.

good luck! What a good pressed powder that gives good coverage?
well powder rarely gives good coverage, what u can look into is a powder foundation, it applies like a powder but sets like a foundation, u can try clinique.
actually drugstore brands have some really good ones.

i like neutrogena's blemish clearing pressed face powder.

it prevents oil, and looks totally natural!

What is loose mineral powder and what does it do?

i need to know if loose powder is either used for foundation or something else !!!!! i was also wonder if its good for the skin ??? and can it also be used as foundation!! ( i was never taught about makeup or shown how to put it on so i kind of have to figure it out myself you probably understand my situation righte now and please give suggestions of makeup as well!!?? thanksWhat is loose mineral powder and what does it do?
Mineral powder is always better for your skin. It gives you a natural look and also it doesn't make your face look cakey like other powders. Loose powder looks like baking flour. And yes, you can use it as foundation. If you want to use it as a foundation powder, use a foundation brush (soft but firm) and tap it on. Don't use brush strokes cause you'll just make it fall off. When you tap it, it works like foundation and stays in the areas you want it. Then later you can use it as a regular powder finish. I suggest using a mineral brush instead of regular powder brushes because minerals have a different texture. What is loose mineral powder and what does it do?
well u know how pressed powder is in the compacts..?

well take that n just chop it up n there u have loose powder basically.

loose powder can be used as a foundation. thats what i use mine for :)

u can use it as a foundation or as a foundation after u put on creme or liquid.

yes it can be good for ur skin doesnt get stuck in ur pores as bad as the gooey creme n liquid.

loose powder u can use a makeup brush n just swirl it on ur face.

What is pressed powder used for?

Obviously It wont work as good for covering acne or redness as good as the bare escentuals foundation im using, so what is it used for? Maybe people with just a little redness? Or uneven skin tone? I never been sure on this. What is pressed powder used for?
Most people use powder foundation after foundation or concealer. It acts as a second layer to combat redness, it also helps with shine, as some liquid foundations (especially if you have oily skin), can leave you looking shiny, it helps to give a matte/shine-free finish. I find that when I wear powder over concealer and/or foundation it helps it to stay on much longer. Also when I am applying colour to my eye-lids, I put on a little liquid foundation first, then powder foundation, as this helps your eye-shadow to stay on longer and it also get rid of veins or redness within the eye area.

Hope this helped! What is pressed powder used for?
some liquid makeup gives a shininess to the skin. by putting a powder over it, the shininess is gone.
I use it to set my foundation. Makes it last much longer during the day. Plus it can be applied here and there thoughout the day to make your face look matte again and take away shine. So it is an essential really.
Some people apply it after putting on foundation to take away the shiney look that foundation sometimes gives (:
press powder is mostly used for taking away the ';shine'; look you may get throughout the day. a lot of people with oily skin use it.

    Does boric acid (powder)kill cockroaches and,if so,how?

It is likely the most effective killer on the market and a bargain. It's toxic to most animals in it's ingredients, and probably not wise to use around food, food storage, or plates flatware etc.

It's NON digestable, for one thing. I'm no Scientist and with all due respect I truly never bothered to find out the why, but I use it exclusively here in Central FL.

Just do a WWW general search thru your browser and keywordsDoes boric acid (powder)kill cockroaches and,if so,how?
    No...................Does boric acid (powder)kill cockroaches and,if so,how?
i like to use the dow scrubbing bubbles to kill them.. spray it on one and it'll be dead.. sometimes the apts. i work in have bugs so i keep a can handy to kill the ones that come near me
i don't know how it works but yes it will kill them
i know that it works for fleas but dont know about roaches.
Yes it does kill them. A few years ago these people moved in next door to us and they had roaches really bad, well after they moved out the roaches tried coming into my house. I saw like 4 roaches in my house all together and I went and got Boric Acid and those little black roach motel things and put them in every drawer, closet and behind the fridge, stove, etc. I never saw a roach in my house again. The trick to getting rid of them is to catch them before they get bad.

Is there a powder that can make people pass out or feel really dizzy?

Ah........and why would you want that to lose weight?? you did post under diet and fitness.

  • What is the difference between baking soda and baking powder?

    Baking Soda vs. Baking Powder

    Summary

Baking soda and/or baking powder are added to batters for leavening; i.e., in order to produce the gas that make cakes, muffins, and quick breads rise.

Baking soda + liquid acid (in the recipe) ---%26gt; leavening

Single-acting baking powder = baking soda + a dry acid. When the liquid ingredients are mixed with the dry ingredients you get leavening --OR-- when the product is heated you get leavening.

Baking powder is a combination of baking soda plus a few other things, most importantly a dry acid.

When the baking powder is mixed in a batter with the wet ingredients, the dry acid and the baking soda can then react together and release carbon dioxide.

    **************************************鈥?br>

Baking soda and baking powder are both chemical leaveners used to make baked goods such as cakes and muffins. Baking soda has some other culinary uses, not discussed here. In recipes calling for baking powder, baking soda can be used, along with some cornstarch and cream of tartar. Baking powder cannot, however, be used to replace baking soda.

The chemical in baking soda is bicarbonate of soda (NaHCO3). When combined with an acidic ingredient, such as vinegar or the lactic acid in buttermilk, baking soda releases carbon dioxide which forms into bubbles in the food. When heated, these bubbles then expand and help to rise or lighten the final product.

Baking powder is a mixture of baking soda and an acid, in powdered form, that combine in liquid to create the same reaction. There are three general types of baking powder -- fast-acting, slow-acting and double-acting; the most commonly available being double-acting.

Double-acting baking powder uses two different acids, one of which reacts at room temperature and the other only during the baking, at higher temperatures. The first reaction helps to form the initial bubbles that are trapped in the batter. As the food cooks, the material around these bubbles starts to set. Carbon dioxide from the second reaction is better trapped within the bubbles and gives a better lift.

Fast-acting baking powder uses only an acid that reacts immediately, while slow-acting contains only the acid that reacts under heat. All three forms will also contain some cornstarch to help keep the mixture dry before use.

Recipes that call for both baking powder and baking soda usually also contain an acid ingredient that will react with the baking soda. The ingredient might be vinegar or buttermilk, mentioned earlier, or molasses, lemon juice, sour cream, honey or chocolate, to name a few. In this case, the amount of baking soda is however much will react with the acidic ingredient. Additional leavening is provided by the baking powder.

Baking soda, combined with an equal measure of cornstarch and twice as much cream of tartar, can be used to replace baking powder. Use about one quarter the amount of baking soda as the recipe calls for baking powder, and then scale the cornstarch and cream of tartar accordingly. For example, if the recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of baking powder, it can be replaced by 录 teaspoon of baking soda, 录 teaspoon of cornstarch and 陆 teaspoon of cream of tartar.

Generally speaking, baking powder can not be substituted for baking soda since this will leave excess acidic compounds in the food which may affect flavor, texture and color. What is the difference between baking soda and baking powder?
Baking soda and baking powder are both leavening agents. What is a leavening agent? It is an ingredient that produces a gas which causes batters and doughs to rise. Baking soda is simply sodium bicarbonate, which does not have any leavening capabilities by itself. It is only when baking soda is mixed with an acid such as sour cream, molasses, lemon juice, or buttermilk that these gases are released. Because these gases start forming right after the baking soda and acid are mixed, batters using baking soda should be baked immediately after mixing.

Baking powder actually consists of baking soda and an acid, usually cream of tartar, calcium acid phosphate, sodium aluminum sulfate, or a mixture of the three. Double-acting baking powder, the most common type, is usually made up of baking soda, sodium aluminum sulfate, calcium acid phosphate, and cornstarch which is used as a drying agent. It is called double-acting baking powder because it has two rising actions. The first time the mixture rises is when a liquid comes in contact with the baking powder, and the second time is when the batter is exposed to heat. This makes it possible to mix the ingredients ahead of time and to bake the dough whenever it is convenient. What is the difference between baking soda and baking powder?
baking powder reacts with liquid %26amp; foams.. baking soda does not do that
Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate. Baking powder contains baking soda as well as cream of tartar, sodium aluminum sulfate and cornstarch.

When I wear powder I get an Oily Nose?

What is the best powder to wear because when I wear my Flirt! powder after a while i get an oily nose and I can't keep applying it at school, so what is the best thing to do?When I wear powder I get an Oily Nose?
You're right not to apply it. Caking on more and more powder over that oily nose will just look naaaasty. Instead, bring blotting papers. You can get cheap ones at the drug store. In between periods, go to the bathroom and blot off the oil.

When you're at home, wash your face a lot. Use soaps and cleansers medicated for oily skin, because these products will dry out the oil. Wash your face with cleansers morning and night. In between those times, like when you get home, just rinse your face with water, trust me it helps a lot. And don't forget face moisturizer... you may think you don't need it because you have oily skin, but you do. Just buy moisturizer made for oily skin.

Hope I helped :)When I wear powder I get an Oily Nose?
get those oil removing sheets and and use them at lunch and stuff ? or change your brand to covergirl maybe ? i use covergirl and it doesnt give me an oily nose. i think it depends on your skin though
get some oil blotting sheets. you can buy them just about anywhere and they come in a little pack you can fit in your purse.
DONT WEAR POWDER ON YOUR NOSE !!!!! PROBLEM SOLVED
get oil free powder. avoid the creases of your nose. a loose powder applied with a brush will work best.

What is the difference between baking soda and baking powder? how are both of them different from each other?

i have a school project due tommm. and i cant find anything online about how baking soda and baking powder differ to each other!

answers greatly appreciated!! (easy 10 points if logical)What is the difference between baking soda and baking powder? how are both of them different from each other?
both are used for baking, but baking powder is used primarily for baking bread, as the acid salt will help the yeast rise. Baking soda is used to cook pancakes, waffles, etc., because baking soda will may those goodies rise which is not how to properly cook, plus it acts as a teeth cleaner, and anti heartburn medicine when mised with waterWhat is the difference between baking soda and baking powder? how are both of them different from each other?
Both baking powder and baking soda are chemical leavening agents that cause batters to rise when baked. The leavener enlarges the bubbles which are already present in the batter produced through creaming of ingredients. When a recipe contains baking powder and baking soda, the baking powder does most of the leavening.

The baking soda is added to neutralize the acids in the recipe plus to add tenderness and some leavening.

Baking powder consists of baking soda, one or more acid salts (cream of tartar and sodium aluminum sulfate) plus cornstarch to absorb any moisture so a reaction does not take place until a liquid is added to the batter. Most baking powder used today is double-acting which means it reacts to liquid and heat and happens in two stages. The first reaction takes place when you add the baking powder to the batter and it is moistened. One of the acid salts reacts with the baking soda and produces carbon dioxide gas.

The second reaction takes place when the batter is placed in the oven. The gas cells expand causing the batter to rise. Because of the two stages, baking of the batter can be delayed for about 15-20 minutes without it losing its leavening power.

Too much baking powder can cause the batter to be bitter tasting. It can also cause the batter to rise rapidly and then collapse. (i.e. The air bubbles in the batter grow too large and break causing the batter to fall.) Cakes will have a coarse, fragile crumb with a fallen center. Too little baking powder results in a tough cake that has poor volume and a compact crumb.

Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate or bicarbonate of soda (alkali) is about four times as strong as baking powder. It is used in recipes that contain an acidic ingredient (e.g. vinegar, citrus juice, sour cream, yogurt, buttermilk, chocolate, cocoa (not Dutch-processed), honey, molasses (also brown sugar), fruits and maple syrup). Baking soda starts to react and release carbon dioxide gas as soon as it is added to the batter and moistened. Make sure to bake the batter immediately.

Baking soda has an indefinite shelf life if stored in a sealed container in a cool dry place. Too much baking soda will result in a soapy taste with a coarse, open crumb. Baking soda causes reddening of cocoa powder when baked, hence the name Devil's Food Cake.

Substitute for garlic powder in recipe?

i'm making dog treats and the recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. i don't have garlic powder, and im not going to the store. is there anything i can use as the substitute???Substitute for garlic powder in recipe?
OMIT IT BUT DONT USE CRUSHED GARLIC CUZ IM SURE CRUSHED GARLIC IS SOGGY!Substitute for garlic powder in recipe?
garlic salt or fresh minced garlic
you could use celery powder,,,, choppied garlic,,, or any other seasoning you like
    crush up real garlic
if it is for dog treats I would just leave it out.

When I am cooking for myself I have substituted onion powder.
Eliminate it or add one small clove of fresh garlic mashed to a pulp. No garlic salt and absolutely no onion in any form! There is something in garlic that appeals to dogs.
onion powder or if you have garlic salt, omit the salt in the recipe.
i guess use half the amount of garlic salt or onion powder.
    ciniamon
Omit it unless you have little chopped garlic, whole or in the jar. Just like one clove or a teaspoon from the jar will work.

If not, no biggie.....leave it out.
DO NOT SUBSTITUTE ONION POWDER! It can be harmful to dogs %26amp; cats.

I'd say just leave it out.
I've made them too, and the garlic is to help keep fleas away - not really for taste. You could add a little minced garlic..or if you have minced garlic in the jar, just add a little of the garlic juice to them. You can buy big jars of garlic powder in the pet store, to put over their dry food too. That's supposed to help with the fleas/flies too....

I'm with Richard. I prefer liquid, but not only does powder leave gunky residue in the washer it also leaves gunky residue on the cloths! In your opinion which is better liquid detergent or powder?
I like both. I get tired of one then switch to the other. Or if either is on sale, it's better. In your opinion which is better liquid detergent or powder?
Liquid for me thanks, I stopped using powder years ago because I was getting tired of soapy residue on my clothes. I have always be a Tide person and have never been disappointed. I'm sure there are other brands just as good, I've just not tried them (with the exception of Zero).
I like liquid. That powder leaves some type of chalky residue. Just my personal opinion.
liquid because it doesn't show up on your dark clothes! Powder stains your darks if you use cold water!
liquid for dishes, powder for washer.
I prefer liquid. Powder sometimes leaves gunky residue in the washer.
Liquids are usually better, especially in septic systems. Powders normally do not disolve completely, leaving deposits in the drain lines which build up over time and eventually will cause blockage and costly repairs. Check the labels on the product for secptic safe.
    Liquid *TIDE*!
I used liquid in both the dishwasher and washing machine.
Liquid is better. U dint have to worry about it dissolving or clumping to clothes.
    Liquid
    Liquid.
    Liquid
with liquids you don't have to worry about the powder residue being left on your clothes
Honestly they both have their beneficial attributes. Sometimes if not measured correctly, powders will leave residue.
since powder sticks to your clothes when they are in the washer i would have to go with liquid
liquid, especially the clear/free of perfume/dyes. i grew up using powder tide and it left so much residue. now i use purex free and clear, it's cheap and works well. all free and clear is also a good choice.
    Hi oasis,

Liquid of course never clumps up. Now you can even get liqud laundry soap with fabric softners, that way you can illimitate fabric softeners %26amp; just 1 bottle.

    I wash at the laundromat.

    Have a good day! :0)
    Liquid rinse better.
I use powder because that way I only have to carry what I need to the laundrymat rather than drag a whole bottle of liquid
Liquid! It's easier to clean if you spill it accidentally.
liquid detergent is better especially if your allergic to the powder stuff
Liquid. From Purex to Tide. Powder no matter what you do always leaves a residue behind.
It would depend on how hard your water is. If you have hard water you should use liquid because powders do not always break down in hard water. If you have soft water either is good.
i feel that liquid is better cuz it gets into your clothes and you can smell it really well and it just works good
    liquid is better
LIQUID OR POWDER IS THE SAME IF YOU ARE USING TIDE IS THE BEST DETERGENT THEIR IS TO USE I HAVE 5 KIDS AND IT WORKS SO GOOD
You can put liquid on stains easier than powder.
I have found powder doesn't desolve all the way so I definetly prefer liquid.

You can substitute them - but it's really hard to get it right.

Baking powder is soda - but with other things added. Baking soda reacts to acidic things (like buttermilk) because it's a base (slightly bitter.) Little hard to explain, but it's really easy. Baking powder is sort of in the middle. It has an acid and a base, and is very neutral.

In a cookie recipe, baking soda is used.

In a recipe, all the ingredients react together, so if you change one ingredient, you have to change others too, or the quantity. Swapping powder for soda will not get you the right cookies that are supposed to be made from the recipe.

So you CAN substitute them, but it's just easier to go and buy some soda

Instead of stocking up on baking powder, I always keep baking soda and cream of tartar on hand. When I am unexpectedly out of baking powder, I make my own single acting leavening by combing 1 part baking soda with 2 parts cream of tartar. These ratios are by volume as you might have known.
Soda is a combo of powder and cream of tarter. So you may be able to use the soda. It will be puffier, just remember it may also alter the taste.
no, baking soda needs an acid for the rise, i would say buttermilk but since its vegan I don't know what your using for the liquid. you can mix baking soda with creme of tarter
    totally different.

Can you fill an empty fire extinguisher with nitrogen and it still charge without any powder?

    no

well you could but you couldn't use it to put out a fire ( SORRY AT WORK ) the extinguisher was filled with a powder ( baking soda or a mix of things ) for a reason - the only gas used in extinguishers is CO2

the nitrogen would not support combustion and may even 'blow out' the fire but it would not stay in place long enough to prevent re-ignition nor have the cooling effect of CO2 - it is only used as a propellant not a suppressant

The coating on a capsule is there for various reasons. One being to protect someone, either their stomach or the release of the medication in a manner that's consistant with the manufactures recommendations. Usually its there to allow a sustained release, which simply means a slow release of the medication, if its taken out and snorted then you receive the medication in a very fast manner, which could be harmful to you.

definately MINERAL make-up, is purely Natural minerals no harmful parabens, which are in clinique!!What foundation is better Clinque or id mineral powder?
I have heard Mineral Powder has poisonous chemicals in it. I wouldn't trust it.They have been getting sued lately. I have also heard that Clinque uses alot of alcohol in their foundation which dries out your skin. My friend is a makeup artist and she told me to use Laura Mercier.
Clinique! I'm wearing it right now :) It's very light and evens out your complexion
    I like Everyday Minerals.

They're less expensive than most, but work soooo nice!

And have tons of colours to choose from, too. :]

  • Does baking powder remove household odors as baking soda does?

Can it be used in laundry or a closet or refrigerator like baking soda? thank you.Does baking powder remove household odors as baking soda does?
Baking powder no. And as far as baking soda for fridge, there is a product so so much better. It is an activated carbon odor absorber called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. Even the Food Network had a show on comparing baking soda with activated carbon and the carbon was much better.

I've been using Fridge IT in the house all over and I love it. Easy to get too right on line at www.innofresh.com from the manufacturer. They ship right away too which is a plus.Does baking powder remove household odors as baking soda does?
No it won't work like that, you have to use baking soda, which is a lot cheaper.

Can i make banana bread w/o baking powder?

i have all ingredients (flour, egg, sugar, baking soda, oil, nuts, banana's, cinnimon, etc., but no baking powder (1 1/2 tsp). i do have corn meal however. can i sub the cornmeal for the baking powder? or what will the bread come out like without the baking powder. thanks for any help. Can i make banana bread w/o baking powder?
Yes, many banana bread recipes don't even require it.

Here is a link to a host of recipes for it that don't require powder

http://allrecipes.com/Search/Ingredients鈥?/a>Can i make banana bread w/o baking powder?
    Ingredients

    1陆 cups white sugar

    陆 cup butter, softened

3 bananas (the riper the better), mashed

    2 eggs

    2 cups all-purpose flour

    陆 tsp. baking soda

    鈪?cup sour milk or buttermilk

    录 tsp. salt

    1 tsp vanilla extract

Note: 陆 tsp. baking powder and 鈪?cup milk can be substituted for the sour milk/buttermilk and baking soda.

    Directions

    Preheat oven to 350掳F (175掳C).

Lightly grease an 8 in x 4 in loaf pan.

Combine all ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Beat well.

    Pour batter into pan.

Bake on middle shelf of oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
Yes, with the baking soda as the leavening. Cornmeal in Banana Bread.....that is a new one to me....Never heard of cornmeal in banana bread. Hummm.....UPDATE....I think you were asking if you could use cornmeal as the baking powder...NO...can't do that it won't work....as a leavening agent. Would make the Banana Bread heavy like a rock.
    Try it. It'll be fun.
it wouldnt turn out right without baking powder and no cornmeal is not a good substute, but you could try
    make yr own baking powder

make baking powder using two parts cream of tartar and one part baking soda. For example, two teaspoons of cream of tartar plus one teaspoon of baking soda would give you three teaspoons of baking powder.
There are many recipes for banana bread that use baking soda instead of baking powder.

You really can't substitute corn meal, as the baking powder is a leavening agent (helps the banana bread rise) and cornmeal doesn't do that.

Here are a couple of recipes without baking powder:

3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed

    1/3 cup melted butter

1 cup sugar (can easily reduce to 3/4 cup)

    1 egg, beaten

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    Pinch of salt

    1 1/2 cup of flour

No need for a mixer for this recipe. Preheat the oven to 350掳F (175掳C). With a wooden spoon, mix butter into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in. Add the flour last, mix. Pour mixture into a buttered 4x8 inch loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour. Cool on a rack. Remove from pan and slice to serve.

    * 1 cup sugar

    * 1/2 cup shortening

    * 2 eggs

    * 2 cups flour

    * 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

    * 1 teaspoon baking soda

    * 3 soft, ripe bananas, mashed

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs, flour, soda, bananas, and chopped nuts. Pour banana bread batter into 1 greased and floured loaf pan; bake at 325掳 for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. This banana nut bread recipe makes 1 loaf.
Baking powder is part of the levening for the banana bread. Cornmeal will NOT work, it will only make the texture grainy, and add density to the bread. There may be a substitute for baking powder, but I don't know what it would be. Substitutes work well with other types of cooking, but usually not with baking of breads, pastries, cookies, ect. You may find an answer at www.allrecipes.com. Very informative site . Good luck

How can i make cake without egg, baking powder, margarine, baking soda, and any preservative?

use whole wheat flour 100% yeastHow can i make cake without egg, baking powder, margarine, baking soda, and any preservative?
This is a difficult one! This recipe does have baking soda in but you could try leaving it out. Also it doesn't require yeast but is egg and margarine free and uses wholewheat flour.

    Courgette Cake

    275g grated courgette

3tbsps ground linseeds mixed up with 4.5tsps rice milk

    195g sugar

    0.5tsps nutmeg

    1.5tsps mixed spice

105ml vegetable oil (I used Sunflower)

    75g raisins

    45g dried, sweetened cranberries

    225g wholemeal wheat flour

    2tsps baking powder

    1.5tsp bicarbonate of soda

    3-4 tbsps rice milk

    For the icing and filling:

    300g icing sugar

    200g dairy-free spread (I use cream cheese)

zest of 1 orange, plus the zest of another for decoration

Mix the ground linseeds with the rice milk and set aside

Heat oven to 160 degrees celsius, gas 4. Grease two 20cm round cake tins, and line the base with baking parchment

Grate the courgettes and set aside

In a large mixing bowl, put the sugar, oil, and linseed mix and stir. Add the dried fruit and grated courgettes

Add the flour bicarbonate of soda, baking powder and spices. Mix well. Add the extra tbsps of rice milk, more or less as you see fit. You are aiming for a mix that will fall slowly from a wooden spoon

Divide the mix between the two cake tins, smooth the tops with the back of a wooden spoon, and place in the centre of the oven

Bake for about 25 minutes, but do keep checking (all ovens are different). The cake is done when it has risen, is golden and springy to touch. A skewer should come out clean

Allow the cakes to cool in the tins, then turn out onto a cooling rack. You can keep them overnight well wrapped up

To make the icing, put the dairy-free spread into a large mixing bowl. Add the zest from one orange

Seive in the icing sugar and mix well to combine. Add more icing sugar if you like

Place one of the cakes, top down, onto your serving plate. Smear half of the icing over it, and sandwich the other cake on top.

Cover the top of the cake with the rest of the icing, spread it out using a palette knife (or a regular knife will do), then grate the rest of the orange zest over the top to make it look pretty

Eat huge slices of it, it's yummy, and pretty healthy too.How can i make cake without egg, baking powder, margarine, baking soda, and any preservative?
Why don`t you simply mix the flour with some longkang water and bake it on hot stone just like what your ancesters did. Call it ';Roti batu'; bukan cake.

Taste better if you eat it with curry chicek.
Go to a bakery and buy a ';fully loaded'; cake! What you want to make isn't the best cake, believe me.
dont know that is possible if you do not use bicarbinate of soda e/g baking powder then if you want a cake you have to use yeast and that will have a bread like texture and not cake like.

you do not want to use any of the normal raising agents so i can only assume that you dont understand what is invilved in the making of cakes or that this is a wind up.
U can buy a ready packet from the shop !!!!!!!!!
you can make a lot of things without eggs , but you can't call it cake
Go find some world war 2 recipes from the UK. They had nowt to bake with but they did bake.
check under allergy recipes - my daughter has an egg allergy and had to look for recipes without eggs, even her wedding cake had to be made without eggs.
    i dont know
You need some kind of leavining...baking soda or powder. But you can make it eggless:

1 1/2 cups brown or white sugar

1/2 teaspoon cloves, allspice or mace

    2 cups hot water

    1/2 pkg raisins

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon cinnamon

2 tablespoons shortening (butter, margarine, or Crisco)

Combine the above ingredients and boil for 5 minutes. Let mixture cool, then add:

    3 cups sifted flour

    1 teaspoon baking powder

    1 teaspoon baking soda

Preheat oven to 350掳F. Turn batter out into a 9'; tube or Bundt pan or an 8'; square cake pan that has been greased and floured.

Bake at 350掳F for 1 hour. Allow to cool before frosting.

When wearing Powder Foundation, do i apply concealer before foundation or after?

i wear Studio Fix (powder foundation), and i dont know if i should wear concealer before or after application of my foundation, since my foundation is a powder (and generally concealer goes after foundation but before powder). When wearing Powder Foundation, do i apply concealer before foundation or after?
Depends on what type of concealer.

i use the concealer stick and the order i go in is:

    concealer stick then foundation powder

why- powder allows the concealer to stay on longer if you apply concealer over the power it can look caky or discolored even more.

but i have fair to light skin so it might work differently w/ darker tonesWhen wearing Powder Foundation, do i apply concealer before foundation or after?
Always put your concealer on before your foundation.
Apply it before your foundation. Applying the foundation will even out the concealer and blend it in well. If you need more coverage after you put your foundation on, then you can use a little bit of concealer (if it is the powder kind) or your powder foundation on those spots.
I would suggest after foundation (it tends to last longer.) is applied with a soft brush and blend upward toward the brow. Once you've made sure there is no line separating areas with foundation and areas without, you can lightly dust a colorless powder over entire face with a large brush. Let me know if you have any questions, I've been a Lic. for 5yrs to do (California Esthetician) Skincare/Make-up/waxing...

  • Biological washing powder in the US?

On the British tv show, ';How Clean Is Your House?'; the two women often use what they call ';biological washing powder.'; It seems to work really well on various things, but I was wondering if this was available in the US and, if so, what is the brand name?Biological washing powder in the US?
I love that show and wondered the same thing myself. A quick search took me to a website for an actual brand. What they are referring to appears to be laundry powder. In Europe, what we call ';organic'; products are sometimes referred to as biologique (French) or biological. This seems to mean that there are no environmentally offensive ingredients and no genetically modified ingredients. These items are also usually approved by vegan and other societies in Europe and the UK, analogous to the way we have the ';USDA Organic'; certified items. One brand of ';biological washing powder'; is Ecover. If you go to Whole Foods or a similar store, you will find an aisle where Ecover and other such brands of cleaning products are available. What you are looking for is the laundry powder, which is known as ';washing powder'; in the UK. I hope that is helpful.Biological washing powder in the US?
They were probably using T.S.P. or Trisodium Phosphate. They sell it in the cleaning and painting department at Home Depot, it's a very powerful cleaner, just be careful that you don't bleach out anything, like carpet or draperies. I paid about 7.50 for a five pound box
We used to call it Oxydol, but it hasn't been a popular product in a few years. BTW, I love those two women. We get the show on BBCAmerica and they're a hoot!

Marykay Medium Coverage Foundation VS. Marykay Creme to Powder?

Im have tried both, but I can not decide which to use. Im 15 years old, don't have acne, and normal skin. Im currently using Ivory 204 in Medium Coverage, but its not working well by the end of the day. It makes my skin look oily, shiny and kinda spotted, but without my foundation my face is never oily. So im guessing its would be my foundation, and now i am debating whether to change to Creme to Powder. Would that help?Marykay Medium Coverage Foundation VS. Marykay Creme to Powder?
Why don't you try reading some reviews people wrote of the two products.

It seems like the creme to powder one got better reviews...Marykay Medium Coverage Foundation VS. Marykay Creme to Powder?
Hi, there I'm a consultant and I wonder if I could help you out. I'd suggest keeping the current foundation that you do have and investing in a beauty blotter package--it's 75 sheets of absorbing linen. I would just take 1 of those and touch up your face mid-day and then again by end of the day.

Alternatively the other option is to invest in sheer mineral facial powder to apply over the foundation which would keep the rest of your makeup in place + it would absorb your facial oil.

If it's not more coverage that you need than I wouldn't invest in another creme to powder--that product is excellent for those going for a stronger coverage option.

I would just start with the beauty blotters and maybe if that doesn't work, then try the oil mattifier--it's a cream that actually stops you from producing oil for up to a few hours at a time. Again something that works while you use it.

Are you using a moisturizer under this foundation? A oil free moisturizer maybe another option that you need--you can just ask for a sample to try from your consultant.

However ask for a sample or a week's worth (5 sheets) from your consultant to try out. The beauty blotter option is the cheapest option as in Canada it's only $8.50--not sure the USA price or where you are.

    Try that first though.

Is there a differece between baking soda & baking powder?

daughter needs it 4 a volcano project to create lava eruptionIs there a differece between baking soda %26amp; baking powder?
For your project, baking soda needs an acid to foam up....

while paking powder reacts with water (since it already contains a dry acidic ingredient). However, baking soda may generate a more vigorous reaction so you may want to try a vinegar-water solution (or just straight vinegar). Also, you can try adding food coloring to the solution to give it the reddish lava look. You can try dying the baking soda by adding a drop to some baking soda (1/2cup) in a ziploc bag and mix... However, I'm not sure if the dye will start the reaction or not. Just try it out.

Also, baking soda is less expensive than baking powder for your project.

For baking, both provide leavening by producing carbon dioxide. Baking soda needs an acid added to be batter/dough. Baking powder does not since it contains tartaric acid. Double acting baking powders also produce carbon dioxide when heated (during baking), but for your experiment you're not going to heat things up.Is there a differece between baking soda %26amp; baking powder?
    exsqueeze me?
Baking soda is four times more powerful than baking powder.
the two contributions below are correct in regards to the difference and the obvious reference is wikipedia shown below.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_bica鈥?/a>
yes! the container it comes in
yes, if there was no difference, then why would there be two different things?....right?
    Yes

Baking soda and baking powder are both used to make dough rise--that is, become filled with tiny bubbles of carbon dioxide. But there's a small but crucial difference between the two.

Baking soda is actually sodium bicarbonate, a simple compound that, when mixed with an acid, releases CO2 gas. That's why sodium bicarb is a remedy for ';sour stomach';: the bicarb reacts with the acids in the stomach, neutralizes them, and generates gas in the process. A couple of belches later and all is well again (at least until those nachos get to the intestines, anyway).

Baking powder, by contrast, contains sodium bicarbonate plus cream of tartar and a drying agent. Cream of tartar is an acid and will react with the sodium bicarb when dissolved in water. The drying agent, normally a starch, keeps the mix dry and prevents an explosive reaction from occurring in the can. Baking powder deteriorates with age, so don't buy a ton of it unless you plan on using it all soon. Eventually moisture gets in, overpowers the drying agent, and causes carbon dioxide to be slowly released.

Many baking powders are advertised as ';double-acting.'; This simply means that the powder contains two acids, one that works at temperatures of 120 degrees and higher (i.e., the oven), and the other at room temperature. Double-acting baking powders are useful in recipes where cooking takes a long time--a cake, for example.

Does any one here use whey or protein powder to build muscle in the gym?

I was wondering, does whey/protein powder actually work at all? And if so what does it do, how long does it take, and which types/brands are best?? I am currently trying Musashi.Does any one here use whey or protein powder to build muscle in the gym?
I have used whey powder but not for muscle gain. As a varsity athlete and personal trainer I use it for the reasons that exercise increases protein needs so by increasing protein intake, it can improve the response to exercise training. Most formulas don't do much to add significant amount of muscle, it just helps repair them quicker since it increases protein synthesis (whey protein is rapidly digested which is optimal for post-excercise consumption).

There isn't any one best brand since they all contain around the same amount of whey protein. If you're looking for a formula to gain weight in the form of muscle, look for whey protein powders that actually state on the container that they are for the purpose of weight gain - they have massive amounts of protein (much more than regular whey powders). Try Mammoth 2500 ( http://www.interactivenutrition.com/prod鈥?/a> ). My brother (who is 21) probably gained 20-25 pounds of muscle in less than a year.

Remember not to get too used to taking whey protein since your body will adapt to it and the effectiveness will not be as high once your body is on it for a long time.

P.S Whey protein is NOT a steroid. That first guy who answered is an idiot.Does any one here use whey or protein powder to build muscle in the gym?
sure, my e-mail is vmonture@yahoo.ca Report Abuse

well whey powder eg PVL hydroflow, contain up to 48% BCAA or EAA (cant remember exactly). So it is a good source of amino acids and it is also high in BV and digested rapidly. If you use whye all day long to build muscle it is not designed for that. Whey is cleared by the gut pretty fast, so after an hour of the whey shake your body is left with no protein again, it s better o use casein based proteins. However before, during and after your workout whey is great, use it with powerade or soemthing else high in GI and you can creat a strong anabolic environmennt. Like all things used correctly and at the right times it will serve you well. I suggest you use it.
Whey is a type of protein and there are many different types of whey - isolates, blends, concentrate etc. For best effect, use whey protein isolate immediately after your workouts as it would be absorbed pretty quickly by your body/muscles. Yes, whey does work and there is no best brand. It depends entirely on your taste and budget. But isolate is the best for post workouts.
No. I don't do steroids. I try my best after a good workout to get as much protein as i can by eating high-protein foods.

Sheer finish powder, is it better to use a puff or brush?

The sheer finish powder I purchased from Proactiv came with a puff but it's so big and it's harder to maneuver. I used a brush instead and found it easier to get the coverage I wanted. But should I be using the puff instead?Sheer finish powder, is it better to use a puff or brush?
a make-up brush is the way to go...and in addition to whats been said, when you apply the powder to the brush ..tap the end handle part of the brush on your palm so that the powder falls into the brush so that when you apply it to your face it will evenly spread on your face... also when applying it to your face use a circlular motion with the brush so the powder is buffed into your skin. Also to help the powder apply to your face naturally, put on some oil free moisturizzer before you put on the powder..that works greatSheer finish powder, is it better to use a puff or brush?
For a more natural look with powder, I like to use a powder brush, because you can control the amount of coverage you get. I don't like using puffs because you have no control over where the powder goes or how much of it you apply. Feel free to use the brush instead.
use a powder brush... i goes on better and looks more natural, plus i've read that putting on your makeup w/ a powder brush is better for you skin...
They give you a puff because they're cheap. Invest in a good brush.

Why throw away unused baby formula (powder) after a month?

What is the reason to throw it away? Is it a loss of nutrients or is it because of of spoilage of the milk used in it or none of the above?

Please don't answer if you're only making a guess. I'd really like to know why. Thanks in advance! Why throw away unused baby formula (powder) after a month?
i honestly didn't think you had to throw it away. Most cans of powder come with a plastic lid so i can't see there being a loss in nutrients. I opened a can of powdered formula when my son was younger and then forgot to pack that can for our camping trip, when i came back 3 weeks later the can was still intact the way we left it, sealed with the plastic lid. I cannot honestly see why someone would throw away good formula, i could see throwing out a can of liquid formula. Its no different than hot chocolate, it comes in a can much like formula and of course you don't drink it all in a month and you still keep it and when you go to use it the next time there is nothing wrong with it.Why throw away unused baby formula (powder) after a month?
dont throw it away, it is a waste of formula.. its because the air supposibly takes away the vitamins and all.. if you get the formula out and put the lid back on it right away then its fine.. when you need to throw it away is when you look at it and it looks weird, smells funny, ect. but i used to use the powder then i switched to the liquid, but the powder that is open i save until the liquid is out and then use that and its fine!
After it is exposed to the air it starts to lose vitamins, which is essential to baby's health. It is not worth the risk to use it.
Go ahead and use it. If it is more than 6 months old and opened, smells or looks funny, then throw it. The recommendations were made by the MARKETING dept. not actual nutritionists or food scientists.

You can always do the skinny jeans and polo thing. Or a white or green skirt. Or bermuda shorts and cute flats!
wear something you are going to feel nice in and be careful as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that a jean mini would look great with that, also just some plain jeans. I would say a khaki skirt too, but only if you have uniform, it would still be cute. I was reading through the rest of the answers and a very light washed pair of jeans would go fabulous with it too!

Is powder supposed to be one shade lighter or darker than your foundation?

i was just wondering if your powder is supposed to be one shade lighter or darker than your foundation? also what is the best way to find the right shade of foundation?

i have blue eyes what color eyeliner should i use thanks Is powder supposed to be one shade lighter or darker than your foundation?
Powder should be matched perfectly to your foundation. Is powder supposed to be one shade lighter or darker than your foundation?
No idea. Ditch the foundation and you soon wont even need it anymore! Burts Bee's Complexion Soap does so much more for the look of your skin than foundation ever could.
One shade darker is better ae per me. I think it can glow heavier when you are in sun light if you have darker shade. It will look nice.
