Do you NEED baking powder?

im making muffins and i cant drive yet, so i cant go to the store, and i dont have any baking powder, do i NEED it? if so ,are there any substitutes?Do you NEED baking powder?
yes , unless you want hockey pucks instead of muffins..

if you have the following you can make a substitute for baking powder:

2 tbsp. cream of tartar

1 tbsp. baking soda

1 tbsp. cornstarch

Sift together. Store in airtight container. One teaspoon of this is equal to 1 teaspoon store bought baking powder.Do you NEED baking powder?
if the recipe calls for it, there is no substitute....
First off, check your flour..If your flour is all-purpose then yes you must have the baking powder. If your flour is self-rising then you really don't have to have it, the muffins will still rise just not as much as with the additional baking powder.
It won;t rise quite right without it. While cooking, the baking powder releases air bubbles. These pubbles add the fluff that make cakes and creads soft. Without it, your muffins will be flat and hard.

Sorry, but Baking isn;t liek making spaghetti sauce.
Maybe you can substitute baking soda??
yes, you need it, or they will be small and hard.

go barrow some from a neighbor.
