How to make potato pancakes from powder mashed potatoes?

Instant Potato Pancakes

Makes 6 servings, 2 patties per serving.

We owe much to the creative mind that cooked up the first potato pancake. If you've never sampled these crispy treats, you're in for a nice surprise. This modern recipe is doubly easy because the potatoes are all ready prepared for you.

Instant mashed potato flakes or

granules to make 3 cups prepared potatoes

4 oz. (about 1 cup) frozen potatoes O'Brien,

thawed and well-drained

3 tbsp. flour

4 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled

1 green onion, sliced

Prepare potato flakes as package directs to make 3 cups, omitting salt and decreasing liquid by 1/2 cup. Cool. Combine mashed and O'Brien potatoes, flour, bacon, onion, egg, salt and pepper. INGREDIENTS

2 cups cold mashed potatoes (prepared with milk and butter)

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon olive or vegetable oil

DIRECTIONS

Combine the first four ingredients; mix well. In a small skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add potato mixture; press with a spatula to flatten evenly. Cover and cook for 8 minutes or until bottom is crispy. Invert onto a serving plate.
You should never do that! Buy some potatoes and grate them by hand. You will never have any potato pancakes as good as the ones you hand grate. Just make sure to squeeze the liquid out real good. Add some grated onion, a little flour and some egg. Fry'em up, and serve them with sour cream and caviar with a bottle of champagne. Yum!
Thank you ';top contributors'; but where I come from there's no such thing as potato pancakes from instant. You can stop googling for recipes. That's illegal. Fact!

Get real potatos and make them.

Top contributors always give the worst advice. Anyone can do a search . Get yourself some potatos darlin' and forget about the instant crap.
It's so easy to make them out of real potatoes....why would you do this? Eck.
Add grated cheddar cheese, and chopped green onion, egg, salt, pepper.

Mix everything, and fry them up.

Top with homemade applesause.

(Rachael Ray, on Food Network, though she doesn't use Instant, but real potatoes; instant won't be quite as good, but the onion and cheese give it a lot of flavor.)
